I don't know why but i was sitting down eating my lunch the other day and for some reason this game popped back into my mind.

I came on to byond only to find out that the game is completely dead. Truly a sad day in history my friends.

There was just something about playing my hunter and setting bear traps then watching unsuspecting players die to them that brought a smile to my face. Well guess this game will just have to remain in my memories.

If you would excuse me I am going to go cry myself to sleep now :cry: .

Proelium basically got buried by the guild system. It won't be coming back until NEStalgia is released and the Silkgames community starts to be on the community's radar again.

Even then it might not become popular again. The guild system really really fucked over Proelium and Proelium 2. At least Proelium had it's day, Proelium 2 never even got a chance.

Proelium was great for pick up and play action on byond, something very little games on it have anymore, if any that are actually played because of the guild system. If I was bored for 20mins I could jump on Proe rack up some kills and head out,no stats, no leveling, no ones better because they are 50 levels higher then you but they're better because of the amount of time that was played. The other killer of proelium was the skill gap, towards the end there was about 15 players, myself included, that had really fun games, someone new would log in, get absolutely decimated and leave with a score of 1-14. Proelium 2 never got its chance but needed a bunch of balance fixes I noticed. Volts, Necros, and Healers were just unstoppable if used together (if I remember correctly, I used the useless assassin)

Anyone who thinks that Proelium II is unbalanced is either mistaken or retarded :P

It's a BYOND game, there's no "either mistaken or" if referring to players as a whole. 8)

I didn't play much and I know there was a few more balance patches so some of the issues I had may have definitely gotten fixed, I'm not doubting that you did seeing how the original had absolutely no balance issues, regardless of what anyone would say (I think flame turrets were a bit strong for being able to have 4 but they were easy to take out with a smart team)

Hopefully after NEStalgia comes out we'll be able to get some Proelium II games going within the community and you can try out the latest version for yourself. It's a lot of fun with 10-15 people in the game.
