Post v1.70 Savefile Management Tool Overview
All of the existing official servers are being merged together for v1.70. Many players have savefiles on several servers, and most of those savefiles will automatically be merged together during this transition. However, if the total character count between all of a player's savefiles exceeds the limit of 16, that person will need to deal with his or her savefiles manually.

Anyone who has one or more extra savefiles waiting to be dealt with will receive a message upon logging into the game. Clicking on the link in the message will open the Savefile Management Tool.

Using the tool is fairly straightforward. Your "main" savefile (the savefile that you're currently playing from) is at the top of the list. Clicking on one of your extra savefiles in that list (numbered (2), (3), etc) will display some basic information about the savefile, as well as three different commands. Executing each command will kick you out of the game for ~30 seconds as the command is processed on the server.

Swap Savefile
This command will simply swap your current main savefile with the extra savefile that you have selected. Nothing in either savefile is changed; they simply swap file names. This commands allows you to load up each of your savefiles to delete characters, transfer items, etc.

Note that you can only use the Swap Savefiles command five times per day. This command is not intended to provide unlimited permanent access to each of your extra savefiles; you should only use this tool to organize your savefiles in preparation for one of the next two options:

Merge Savefile
This command will merge the extra savefile that you currently have selected with your main savefile. This means that all of your characters plus your vault and ranch will be merged into a single file. In order for this command to work, the total character count between each of your files cannot exceed 16.

Change Savefile Key
By typing in the name of a different user key in the input box on the bottom and hitting "enter", you will be executing the Change Savefile Key command. This command will transfer all of the data on the extra savefile that you currently have selected over to a new user account key of your choice. Once the transition has been made, you can simply log in with the alternate key and load the savefile normally.

This command only works if A) the user key actually exists, and B) there is no savefile for that key on the server. If you want to transfer one of your savefiles over to an existing key that you've already been using to play, you'll first need to delete all of the characters on that key's savefile.

Unless you've already bought NEStalgia on your alternate user key, that key will face all of the same restrictions as all of the "free to play" legacy users. In order to lift those restrictions, you will need purchase NEStalgia for your new key. The only exception to this rule will be made for NEStalgia Fundraiser Contributors who donated for a Server Sponsorship, a Pirate Ship, or a Town. If you are one of those people then email me and I will manually activate a subscription on your new account.

That's all that I have for now. I'm going to lock this thread until v1.70 goes live, at which time I'll open it up in order to answer any questions that come up during the process.
